How to set up parental control on a child's smartphone or tablet

Choose what type of devices you and your kid use:
1. On your kid’s device, open «Settings».
2. Click «Google» > «Parental controls».
3. Click «Get started».
4. Select «Child or teen».
5. Click «Next».
6. Select your child’s account or create a new one for them.
7. Click «Next» and sign in with your (parent) account.

Read carefully the information about parental controls and what restrictions will be placed on the child's device. It is recommended that you review this information with your child.
Confirm the activation of parental control using the password of the child's Google account.
Look carefully at the list of installed applications. If you want your child not to use some of them, flip the switch opposite the application into the off position.
Go to manage filters and content settings
You can choose restrictions for each of the suggested content types. To do this, click on the desired item.
To remotely control a child's device and change parental control settings, you can install the "Family Link (for parents)" application on your (parent) device. Download it from Google Play (for Android or Chromebook) or App Store (for iOS).
After setting up parental controls, we recommend that you read about settings of a child's account that you can manage.
On your (parent) device (in iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 or later):
1. Go to «Settings» > «Family».
2. Tap the «Add Member» button.
3. Tap «Create Child Account», then tap «Continue».
4. Enter the child's name and birth date. Be sure to enter the correct birth date — you can't change it later.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish setting up the account.

On the kid’s device:
If you didn't sign in to kid’s Apple ID during the device setup, do the following:
1. Go to «Settings»
2. Tap «Sign in to your iPhone».
3. Enter your kid’s Apple ID and password.
If you protect your account with two-factor authentication, enter the six-digit verification code. Read more on Apple Support
On the parent's device:
1. Go to «Settings» and select the «Screen Time» function.
2. Scroll down and select the child's name in the "Family" section.
3. Tap «Turn on Screen Time», then tap «Continue».
4. Appoint the child's age to set the suggested content restrictions or set restrictions for each type of content separately
Go to the downtime setup.
Set a time period when the child will not be able to use the device without your permission
Go to application limits setup.
Set up daily time limits for app categories. If the limit is reached, further use of these applications will require your permission

In case your kid uses an iOS or iPadOS device and you (parent) use Android devices, parental control is set up directly on the kid's device
1. Go to «Settings» and select the «Screen Time» function.
2. Tap «Turn on Screen Time», then tap «Continue».
4. Tap «This is My Child’s iPhone».
Appoint the child's age to set the suggested content restrictions or set restrictions for each type of content separately
Go to the downtime setup.
Set a time period when the child will not be able to use the device without your permission
Go to application limits setup.
Set up daily time limits for app categories. If the limit is reached, further use of these applications will require your permission
Create a passcode which will be required to allow extra time, download apps or make changes to Screen Time settings
